7/22/10 – Alice Redd

Just wanted to take a minute to thank both of your organizations for your truly inspiring presence at Alice Redd’s last rites and your support from the salute in chapel, leading the procession to the cemetery with all of your flags full in the wind, taps your ‘old glory’ folding & presenting.  I am certain that you gestures would have made Alice proud to have served in the army in WWII thinking that you who did not know her – only her service – took time out to honor her.  As I remember the weather was not the best but you guys and ladies came anyway which shows a lot of spirit and that you all take seriously the support of our armed services and those who serve.

Thanks again – PATROIT GUARD RIDERS and BRAZORIA COUNTY CAVALRY!

Alice’s son in law, Ray McCarren

PS:   Joe Kilchrist  –  thank you for making this possible

Thank you Brazoria County Cavalry very much for all the work you did for my mother’s funeral. You went out of your way (190 miles) to make it so special for us and it was greatly appreciated. I know that my mother would have been extremely proud of the beautiful service and ceremony provided by the Brazoria County Cavalry and the presentation of the American Hero cap which I will wear with pride and gratitude.

Thank you again for giving your time to the men and women of our military services ~ you’re true gentleman!

 Kind Regards,

I want to personally thank you for your reverence support of my mother at the service and as we transported her to final resting place at the National Cemetery.  I recognize you and your organization travel some distance in less than desirable conditions to show your support.  My mother would have truly felt honored to have such an organization give her the unconditional support.  My mom was a very special person who expected nothing from others but was always willing to give to others.  This is how she lived her life and served her country.  As we said our final good bye to her last Thursday my children, wife and me reflected on her commitment to life and the reverence provided at the cemetery was just a continuation of her feeling of others.  I know if she was her she would sure give you all a big hug along with a very infectious smile as a measure of thanks.

Thank you again and God Bless,

Brian Redd

What a beautiful sendoff you and the Brazoria County Cavalry provided for our dear mother, Alice Redd, on July 22, 20l0.  You went above and beyond riding through rain and storms to St. Dominic Village to help us recognize the efforts our mom put forth to serve her country in WWII.  As veterans yourselves, you could appreciate the sacrifices our mom made in serving the country she dearly loved.   I’m sure our mom was looking down with a smile when she saw that magnificent motorcade escorting her to her final resting place.  How touching to see the Marine home on leave, in full uniform, standing at attention, to also honor our mother.  Joe Kilchrist explained that he was the son of one of your members, home on leave from Afghanistan.  What a wonderful man he is, serving his country and also honoring those who served before him.

Thanks, so very much, to all of you for volunteering your time to make this a memorable and meaningful celebration for me and my family as we bid farewell to our mother who was loved so much.  We greatly appreciate you all and the beautiful service that you provide.

Sincerely,

Maureen McCarren (and Family of Alice Redd)
