7/22/10 – Alice Redd

As the Cavalry members have heard countless times:  I cannot thank the Cavalry enough.  I am speaking for me personally and on behalf of the children and their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and friends of Alice Marie Haggerty Redd, United States Army 1st LT, WW II for your selfless service on 22 July 2010.

The Brazoria County Cavalry members, the mayor of Brazoria, and the mayor of Danbury all put their personal time on hold and gave the funeral services, the escort to the cemetery, and the burial service the Dignity, the Honor and the Respect that this war veteran so well deserved.

Although I have personally made countless rides with the Cavalry and funeral escorts with the PGR, it has a very different perspective being on the “receiving” end of your selfless giving.  You make an everlasting and positive effect when you perform your service – more than you know unless you are a “receiver”, as I was.

All the family wishes to also acknowledge the fact that the Cavalry had a 190 mile day through rain storms, hot and humid weather conditions.  When the Cavalry says “Rain or Shine Event”, they walk their talk.  We also make note that the “Brazoria county Cavalry exists to assist the families of Brazoria County, Texas …”  The Cavalry clearly went beyond Brazoria County to “assist one of their own”.  The family is very grateful for that.

In closing we want to emphasize the positive and lasting impact the Cavalry has at these services.  Trust me on this – it is much more than you even realize and certainly more than I ever realized.

You have permission to post the photographs of this service.

YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE!  GOD BLESS AMERICAN & GOD BLESS THE CAVALRY.

Respectfully,

Joe Kilchrist
