Veterans Fair Day 10/10/08
Words cannot express how I feel towards the Brazoria County Cavalry, the West of the Brazos Military Troops, the Angleton and Lake Jackson Fire Department and all the wonderful folks who took their precious time to be with us as we opened the Brazoria County Fair 2008. It was a vision I had, to let the Veteran’s know that BCFA has in the past and will continue in the future to support our Veterans and Armed Force Servicemen and women with free admission to the Brazoria County Fair on the first Friday, Opening night each year. The medallion we chose, is to be worn each year for their entry. We hope they will display it proudly and wear at our Opening ceremonies each year.
For me personally, it gave me some closure in a way that only my Dad could understand.
It was not only a celebration for BCFA for our 70th year anniversary, but a time to pay our respects for those heroes that live among us every day. Without their sacrifices, we would not be where we are today. There were several tearing eyes as Paul Kresta gave his speech on freedom, our country, and our youth. Debbie Anderson with the West of the Brazos Military Troops was priceless. Without her’s and your guidance in the beginning, the Honor Guards through the ceremony, and our President Paul Kresta’s from the day I began this position, I know I could not have pulled it off. It was everything I had envisioned.
Again, thank you to you and also to each and every member of your group. I hope the Brazoria County Cavalry will be willing to make this a BCFA tradition each year as we salute our Veterans and Armed Forces at our Opening ceremonies each year.
Respectfully,
Theresa Easterling
