Kevin Karl – 6/16/09

I wanted to thank you so much for everything you did for Kevin and I this past Tuesday at his going away party. It was an amazing sight to see everyone who participated in the ride and very touching to see everyone there to support my husband. I think I began to cry from the moment the fire truck pulled into the drive and did not stop until everyone had left. The smile on Kevin’s face was wonderful to see. He was amazed and so happy to have had the Calvary and others at the party. I think it is such a wonderful thing that you all do. Kevin and I feel blessed to have so much support. Kevin said “it’s just his job” but I believe seeing the Calvary and everyone made him see how proud we all are of him and all others who serve in our military. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything. God bless you all!

Charles Gougenheim – 6/6/09

BRAZORIA COUNTY CALVARY;

 It’s hard to find the words to express how grateful Charles and I are for your group honoring our son, Charlie, on his return back to Iraq.   Thanks to all the Calvary members who gave up June 6th to be with their families to do this for us.    Charlie was a bit overwhelmed by it all, to say the least.  He didn’t see this one coming at all!!   How we managed to keep it a secret from him and not accidently let the cat out of the bag is unbelievable!!    The ceremony you performed for him and your generosity with everything you presented to him has definitely reinforced his confidence in the fact that there really are people out in this world who care about our soldiers.   It was great to see that everyone at the party got emotionally caught up in the moment.  The feeling everyone felt watching y’all come up the driveway is beyond words.  There were a lot of people with lumps in their throats.  So many of them came up to me and said how wonderful it is that your group does this for our military.

 Thanks for everything you did for Charles and I as well.  Your tribute to Charles for his service in Vietnam got the best of him, and your acknowledgment to those who served in that war means a lot to the ones that didn’t get the homecoming they deserved.

 Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts.

 GOD BLESS THE BRAZORIA COUNTY CALVARY AND OUR SOLDIERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Lynne Gougenheim

It was such a pleasure to have the Brazoria County Cavalry attend our Saturday Morning Breakfast this past weekend.  You are a wonderful group with an unselfish heart, doing great things for our community, military, firefighters and EMS.  Our breakfasts are open to anyone wishing to attend and we would be honored to have you anytime.  Our thanks to the BCC’s many members who took time from their busy schedules to attend.

Sincerely,

Truman Neil Shiflett – 5/16/09

Today I had the honor of meeting and riding with your group to lay to rest my cousin Truman Neil Shiflett..  Everyone in your organization was very professional and made the task at hand easier for both his family and his friends.  I am a motorcycle rider and a member of the PGR….Today I guess you could say was my first PGR ride, but after seeing and watching your members, I was very impressed with each of you…I was born and lived in the Brazoria County area for years, in Velasco, Clute, and Danbury. My father worked for the old Freeport  Sulpher Company.  After I got married we moved to Brazoria County again, living in Jones Creek, Old Velasco, and Freeport and then we moved away to Houston were I now live.  I still have quite a few family members Uncles, Aunts, and cousins that still live there.  To each of your members that attended this ride to honor my cousin Truman, I say from the bottom of my heart …I thank each of you and may God shine his blessings upon you, and keep each of you safe from all harm…..

Bless You

Claude Montgomery
