Dear BCC,
I’m sitting here at 8pm on Saturday, September 5th trying to finds the words to express my gratitude for all of y’all today. Because of you, my father, Melvin Brown, was able to stand up today & proudly accept the Welcome home he deserved 40 years ago. He was able to finally realize that there are Americans that are grateful for the job he was asked to do for his country. When he saw those fire trucks, police cars & those bikes for the 1st time, he was worried that y’all were at the wrong place. When the wind blew up Tracy’s papers & he saw his name on it, realized you all were there for him…words can’t describe my Daddy’s face!!! And when he turned around & saw just how many of you there was he was in total shock! Then he looked up & saw the plane flying over tipping his wings at HIM, he was just speechless. All the gifts, all the kind words of gratitude were nothing compared to the simple words that were repeated over & over today…WELCOME HOME! I can’t even begin to understand how you pulled it together. I know it took many hours. There will be a special place for you in Heaven for all that you do. The sacrifice you do to be there for our men & women in service to our country is amazing. I know Dad was the 1st of many more Vietnam Veteran Welcome Homes you will do. And I am honored that you let him be the 1st! Since I was 10 years old & realized that someone actually spit on my Daddy, my Hero, when he landed in Houston all those years ago, I have always wanted to take that away from him! I feel like we did that today! And for his family & best friends to be there to help was just the icing on the cake. And for us to have the opportunity to pay our respects & thank-you’s to the other Vietnam Hero’s that were there was even better!! I hope we were able to capture the whole thing on the video camera so we can send it to the web site to let others see the joy y’all bring to our American Hero’s. He went on with his life still loving the country that let him down, still believing there was good in America somewhere. Y’all showed him that it was in his own backyard today. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for helping me bring my Daddy home today!! As I say to the Soldiers, JOB WELL DONE!!!
Sincerely,
Angela Brown West

I do apologize for not getting back to you before now; I have the picture of Dewayne scanned on the disk with the flag. I will get the picture to you soon. I will get with Amber this week and scan the one in uniform.
I can not tell you enough how impressed; and thankful my family and I are of the display of “HONOR” the Brazoria County Calvary bestowed on my brother. My grandchildren Aaron, Alyssa and Alison are still talking about it. The procession; the Texas flag and the Military hat were more than my family could have imagined.
I would like to thank all who participated in the showing of respect to Dewayne. I also want to thank all the family’s that have given of their son’s; daughter’s; brothers; sisters; Aunts; Uncles; fathers and mothers to the service of our country. Words just do not do justice to what this country has sacrificed for our FREEDOM.
GOD Bless America and all those who have; who will and who serve now.
Thanks
Nancy Davis

I personally wanted to say “THANK YOU” to you for putting together the ride for De Wayne this evening. I know it was very short notice and with “our” schedules, I still am amazed at every run. I’m sure that you will also be getting a thank you from the family members, as I know how appreciative they were of what was done
this evening. I took time to thank everyone for coming at staging, but I wanted to make sure to send this out also. I know it takes the whole group to make this work, but I also know what has to go on “behind the scenes” that the “public” doesn’t see and for that, thank you. You don’t realize what an impact that this evening had on the family and friends that were there. I even had the out of town family members along with the local ones asking all kinds of questions about the Cavalry afterwards, and several people that I have worked with over the years that didn’t realize what the Cavalry actually did. I am proud to be a part of such a great group of people.
Again, Thank you for all that you do.
God bless.

I’m still kind of at a loss of what to say, or how to say it right now. I can tell you that Elaina and I will be forever grateful for what the Cavalry did today! And she and I would like to find out how to become a part of this wonderful organization. I do not own a bike, and Elaina absolutely WILL NOT ride one, due to some past issues with some of her family, but I already know how I can rig a full set of flag poles to fly all of the military branch, state and national flags to fly proudly in the rod holders in my truck and we would be honored to follow the Cavalry riders in the vehicle convoy. Please let us know if this is possible, as we would really like to honor our American hero’s, past, present and future, by being a part of the Brazoria County Cavalry.
Thanks for all that you do!
Lance, Elaina and family, and especially PFC Christopher Bledsoe, USMC
