8/19/10 – Thank You!

I wanted to share this with you.  In her District Update newsletter Senator Joan Huffman mentioned the Brazoria County Cavalry under the column entitled, Committee on Veterans Affairs and Military Installations.

I am so proud of all that the Cavalry does and am happy to have the opportunity to participate on behalf of the Senator.

Thanks for all that you continue to do.

COMMITTEE ON VETERAN AFFAIRS AND MILITARY INSTALLATIONS
The committee is focused on ways to improve services and support to the brave men and women who fight for our freedom and way of life.

Interim hearings have reviewed the management of nursing homes for Texas Veterans and employment opportunities for soldiers returning home. Specifically, the committee is looking to help soldiers target job openings tailored for veterans.

It has been a pleasure to serve on this committee and such an honor to support groups, such as the Brazoria County Cavalry and others throughout Senate District 17, who give so graciously of their time and remind us of the sacrifices men and women in uniform make on our behalf every day.

8/18/10 – Thank You!

It was a dream come true.  What a blessing the Cavalry is to Brazoria County.  I will write and post a formal thank you, but know that it was an amazing event for an 86 year old veteran.  John and Luna and all the rest………..fantastic…..much more than the family ever imagined.

8/15/10 – Samantha Vazquez (5/15/10)

Thank you so much guys for what you do. It is nice to know that people still know that we are still fighting and doing our part. I made it to Diego Garcia. I will take pictures with some of my friends soon with my ballcap and send it your way.

Best regards,
– LN2 Vazquez, USN

8/7/10 – Pete Buitron

I cannot express the appreciation and love I have for ALL of you in the BCC. Pete’s final ride was awesome and I had no idea it was taking place until you pulled in the driveway. He went out with dignity which is what we wanted. The time all of you spend -honoring our vets and enlisted is above and beyond. I know Pete is both happy and honored. His ride will live in my mind always! Thank you and God Bless all of you.

Sincerely,

Tracy Buitron

8/7/10 – Pete Buitron

Words can’t express the gratitude in my heart that I have for BCC! Ya’ll made it such a special day for my family and friends for the ride you did for my brother in law Pete. As I watched the last months of his life fade away I tried to cover my sorrow in humor and be strong for my sister and not let her see me cry and let down my guard. I began to feel bad for not going on the rides for other soldiers while caring for my brother in law in his final days. But as I watched the end come nearer for him and watch him begin to lose his pride, and dignity through all his suffering I decided then I wasn’t going to let him go out like that!  I called on my family at the BCC to give him the grand exit from this world he deserved and they showed our whole family what they are made of Pride and Honor! And BCC definitely gave it back to him! I know he got all that back when we got lightly rained on, on the way to the funeral home. That was him telling me that he was there and was in awe of it all like we were!   Thank you so much for the time spent on this ride for him it meant so much to me and especially my sister and Pete’s mother. And, thank you for your words of encouragement of scripture that came from your heart and the poem a wonderful!  And to the vet who took the time to make the shadow box , thank you from the bottom of my heart, I know my sister will cherish  it always!,  And again thank you from the bottom of my heart!  Ride on BCC, Ride on!
