Thank you all for honoring Ryan on Sept. 11, 2010. You made this day so special for Ryan and me. Everyone there who has not been to one of these events was so amazed at the honor and respect shown not just to Ryan but to all the veterans there that day. What you do for our American Heroes is something they will always remember. Ryan appreciated everything he received especially the flag that flew over the capitol of Texas!!! He plans to have it framed to display in his new home here in Danbury, Texas. Please say thank you to Dennis Bonnen for us. I know that I am one of the “lucky ones” because my son came home safe and sound. Thank you for all you do and thank you for honoring my son Army SPC Ryan Brown, my American Hero!!!

Thank you, Brazoria County Cavalry for coming to Central Elementary on September 10, 2010. Your presentation to our assistant principal, Alan Ellinger and teacher’s husband, Bobby Hornback, put a face to the words “American Hero” and “Patriot”. The students and teachers were moved by the parade of flags, first responder vehicles and motorcycles. One teacher said that tears of pride came to her face as she looked at all the American flags and the parade. The students had an opportunity to see what honoring someone looked like. They heard about commitment to helping others and they had a glimpse of patriotism. They were reminded that it is a privilege to live in a free county and attend school, but there is a cost to freedom.

A big thank you to all of the men and women who came out to support Alan last Friday. It was very meaningful for our family. We are so blessed to have Alan safe at home with us. The deployment to Iraq was tough in that we were apart and unsure of how safe he was. It was so nice to see him recognized and stand next to him. The people who make up the Brazoria County Cavalry are heroes themselves as they lift up so many others. Please thank the area restaurants and officials who helped to make the day so special.

Your group did a fantastic job. We were overwhelmed with the turnout, and all of the gifts of appreciation given to Derek.
