Dear Brazoria County Cavalry,
This is SPC Robert Whitley. It is to my understanding that you rode a SECOND time for my family and me. I would just like to extend my gratitude and appreciation for everything that your organization does for our Soldiers. It is very heartwarming and appreciated to an extent that, sadly, will never be fully understood by those who ride for us soldiers in the US Military. I have been told by many fellow Soldiers, Brothers and Sisters in arms alike, about how poorly and rudely they were welcomed back stateside. When you rode out to welcome me, it took damn near everything I had to prevent from breaking down when asked to say a few words. I had a “frog” in my throat something fierce. This was an unexpected warm and heartfelt welcome home ceremony. An overwhelming feeling of emotion; gratitude; pride; support; and appreciation towards everything, each and every one of you, do, support and stand for. It brings a smile to my face every time I think back to that day of honor and privilege. I brag about it to all of the soldiers here. Telling them how the Brazoria County Cavalry rode IN MY HONOR to greet me at MY HOUSE to thank ME for everything I do for our country, the people, and the United States Armed Forces. I tell them, “THAT’S TEXAS BABY!” To top it off, you rode a SECOND time to thank my family. I had tears in my eyes as my sister told me about how proud it made her that her brother was in the military and YOU rode to thank my family who supports me each and every day to the fullest. It’s organizations like yours and each and every one of you sitting and standing here today, and those of which could not make it for unforeseen reasons… it is people like YOU who make this job honorable and enjoyable. By the time my father reads this, I will be on my fourth and final deployment to a combat zone in Afghanistan. I will be bringing the hat that was presented to me and be sending many pictures of me wearing it, along with what pictures I am permitted to send due to Operational Security. Thank you once again for everything you do, stand for, and support.

Cavalry,
Once again we thank you and all of your members for the beautiful tribute to our son, David McCormick. It was a special afternoon, and we appreciate your care and concern for our family and for the many other families whose lives you have touched.
Have a wonderful second year. You are a true blessing!

People have started to take things for granted in the past few years. Right after 9-11 there was so much American pride that you couldn’t walk outside without being noticed by someone or being thanked by someone. Now the community and individuals have to be reminded by people like yourselves that there is still a war going on because they have gotten to comfortable and relaxed. The welcome I received by the community because of Brazoria County Cavalry was beyond what words can describe, but that’s just it. A lot of people had to be reminded that a soldier had come home. I was given the chance to serve because of those before me so I am grateful to them. I thank you for teaching the generation that will one day provide for me what respect really is.
Thank you for what you do.

God created family and friends for a purpose. The members of Brazoria County Cavalry showed My son Joey and our family what that truly means on Sunday December the 21st. Your members gave up there time on a GOD’S day to welcome Joey home from Afghanistan. I wish that every Military member in the country could have such an AWESOME welcome home. I will always remember the face that Joey had when the youth football players walked down the street with American flags held high. Then he almost fainted when the parade of Fire, Police and Cavalry vehicles and cycles turned the corner. A special Thanks goes to Tracy for planning this event and including our two nephews who fought in Iraq and did not have the homecoming that you provided for Joey. That also made their day. The Cavalry puts a special meaning into how we care for our troops and what they do for our freedom. Thank you all and GOD BLESS each of you.
David, Tina Ashley Tim and Joey Jordan.

family and all the other families that you come in contact with, all of you
are truly an incredible bunch of people. Just when you give up on any “good

all of your faith in mankind is restored. I hope that you and your family
