Leroy Walker – 12/20th

I just must add one more “thank you” for the wonderful event last Saturday for Leroy. He was so amazed that you all would do this for him and he was totally surprised. I was so impressed that you offered a prayer for him to get relief from some of these horrible memories that plague him at this season of the year. Although these thoughts will never leave entirely your visit has helped tremendously.   He hasn’t stopped talking about it and he is still somewhere in the clouds yet.

Please pass these thoughts along to your group for me. Have a great

Christmas and God Bless.

Leroy Walker – 12/20th

It is difficult to find words to express our gratitude for the wonderful surprise your group gave my husband, Leroy Walker, on Saturday, December 20. Your timing could not have been more perfect. You expressed the wish to make his holiday a bit brighter and your wish was granted. December has always been difficult for him, but this year will give him a good memory of December that might help him overcome the bad memories that he has had for so many years. We appreciate your prayers that the memories of the horrible atrocities he experienced will be eliminated. We also appreciate the fact that you all took time out of your busy schedules to visit with us. Leroy was pleased with your generous gift and is still amazed that you would recognize his service to his country this way. Our family also thanks you for the honor you bestowed upon him. We always have known he was special and the Brazoria County Cavalry confirmed and acknowledged it in a much better way than we ever could. Thank you again and God bless all of you.

David Banks – 12/13/08

I did not have the opportunity to see the ride you put together for my son, PFC Banks, but I have gone through the gallery of pictures you took and from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for recognizing my son and the wonderful man he has become. You all have my heartfelt gratitude for the time you spent with him as I wish so badly I could have been there. I am sure after spending time with him you saw what a fantastic person he is. He is my Heart, thank you.

Cody Russell – 7/26/08

Brazoria County Calvary,

I will never be able to thank each and every one of you for the generous donation and support to our family and especially to the honor of our son, Cody.  It completely caught me off guard yesterday and I am sorry I couldn’t talk, but I hope you all know what it meant to me.  What you all did for us was so incredible!  Thank you so very much!   It doesn’t surprise me because that is exactly what makes the Calvary so special.  Always being there when people least expects it and making such a huge difference in everyone’s life you touch.  On a day that was set aside to commemorate your first year anniversary and to share with all of us the men and women you so proudly honored, you stepped back, and again, took care of our community.  I am so proud to live in Brazoria County and so proud to have been a part of your day.

I apologize for having to leave before the closing prayer but I didn’t know about this and I had my husband waiting outside after he got off from work to help me return some tables I had borrowed.  Johnny also thanks you and is sorry he wasn’t able to make it.  I thank God for all the wonderful people who have helped us through these tough times.  God Bless you all.

Sincerely,

Marcia Self

Robert Whitley – 7/25/08

I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how moved I was by the anniversary celebration. You folks have touched so many live that you may never know the extent of the help that you have given to all of us with family in the military. I count my blessings for knowing you and your family as well as the many members of Brazoria County Cavalry!

Below you will find Roberts’s letter to you. I want to thank you for allowing me to read it to the group on Sunday. It was as though he was there telling you himself, and I will never forget the experience. Thank You and God Bless You.
